GENERAL
Birth Name: Rémy Étienne LeBeau Nicknames: Cajun, Gumbo, Swamprat, Le Diable Rouge Codename: Gambit Age: 33 (as of June 2010) Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian (Cajun) Mutant Abilities: Gambit is a mutant and his primary mutant power is the ability to charge matter, whether organic or not, with volatile kinetic energy. This usually causes the object in question to explosively release its charge on impact, when thrown at a target, or after a controlled time restraint. Gambit is skilled in card throwing with great accuracy, and all aspects of thievery. One of his trademark tricks is to hurl playing cards at an opponent, charging each card and turning it into a deadly projectile. His other tricks have included charging a wad of chewing gum when he was otherwise entirely tied up and charging the floor of an entire room, causing it to explode with great force. He has commonly also carried throwing spikes and knives, which he charges using his powers and throws at opponents. Gambit's body, as a living generator of bio-kinetic energies, possesses physiological attributes adapted for constant motion. As a result, his mutation has increased his body's innate physical qualities (such as speed, reflexes/reactions, stamina, agility, flexibility, dexterity, and balance) to the very limit of natural human capability. This also creates static interference around him at all times making him immune to telepathic probes. At the peak of his powers, this grew to become a constant ambient bio-kinetic aura around his body which neutralized all other mutant powers which involved direct physical contact upon his person. This allowed him to make direct skin contact at last with Rogue, enabling them to finally physically consummate their romantic relationship. Gambit possesses a subtle hypnotic charm. He can compel people to believe what he says is true and to accede to his wishes using his speech, though some minds have proven to be immune. It has been stated that for his charm to work, the other person has to be unaware of it. It has been theorized in the Marvel guidebooks that Gambit is able to achieve this by bio-kinetically charging the brain matter of the target individual. Gambit customarily wears a suit of highly articulated light body armor and his weapon of choice is a telescopic metal staff. He is extensively trained in martial arts, particularly French kick-boxing or savate, which coupled with his Thieves Guild training and natural mutant abilities, makes him a superhuman combatant. He is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, utilizing street-fighting techniques and acrobatics. In his youth, Gambit was able to control all forms of kinetic energy, allowing him to charge all matter within his line of sight by mere thought alone. It was shown that Gambit had the ability to foresee future events using his playing cards through tarot reading. Gambit showed the ability to convert inert materials into toxic substances, such as transforming breathable air into poisonous gases and also potentially the ability to ingest diseases and plagues similar to one of Pestilence's (Polaris') powers. APPEARANCE

Very mischievous eyes that can either be a joy to look into or strike fear. He wears his hair shaggy and down to his chin at least. When he trains, he puts it back on occasion, but he's learned to move in a fight and avoid it causing his vision to be impaired. Clothing Styles: Remy wears (dirty-wash) jeans and t-shirts mostly in browns and blacks, with his trademark trench coat that he wears over the top of everything. He prefers to wear long sleeves for more than one reason, but half the time he pushed them up to his elbows, or folds the cuffs up if the shirt has them. When he came to the mansion, he owned one pair of shoes - his boots. He still has them, but he's gained some trainers, some "dress" shoes and a far newer pair of boots that he wears on a daily basis. Family: Jean-Luc LeBeau (adoptive father) Henri LeBeau (adoptive brother) Mercy LeBeau (adoptive sister-in-law) Bella Donna Boudreaux-LeBeau (arranged-marriage-wife, separated) Marius Boudreaux (father-in-law) Julien Boudreax (brother-in-law, deceased) Personal History: Abandoned at birth due his devilish eyes, Remy spent his first years in a New Orleans orphanage, hanging out with a gang of child thieves. When he was ten he tried to pick the pocket of Jean-Luc LeBeau, the head of the Thieves Guild. Jean-Luc took a liking to him and adopted him into the 'family', treating him as his own son. Since then, Gambit has been trained as an expert thief and takes great pride in his abilities. He met Bella Donna Boudreaux when he was eight and they became best friends. She was the granddaughter of head of the Assassins guild, which was a rival to the Thieves'. As part of a peace pact between the guilds, a marriage was arranged between Remy and Bella Donna. Despite their closeness, this news devastated Bella Donna, as she was in love with another man. To please their parents, the two agreed to go ahead with the union, and Remy allowed her to do as she pleased (be with her lover). They were married when they turned 24, but Julien, Bella's older brother was against the pact and challenged Remy to a duel. Remy killed Julien in self-defense and had to be excommunicated and banished from New Orleans to maintain the peace between the two guilds. For awhile, he wandered here and there, stealing what he needed. He was contacted by Charles Xavier after being picked up on Cerebro and invited to come to his school in Westchester. He's deferred for awhile, but has finally decided to give the place a chance. Before his union with Bella Donna, Remy was abducted by the men of William Stryker. For two years, he was in a cell on the Three Mile Island. After he escaped (the only one to do so), he vowed he would never return. He also vowed he would get his revenge. With the past put aside but not forgotten, Remy was welcomed back with (mostly) open arms and he was eventually married, just as he promised. He continued on with his bachelor's lifestyle, rising in the ranks of the guild and winning obscene amounts of money from the New Orleans tourists. He even won a plane in a bet, something he called 'his baby'. After a few years of trying to forget his time in confinement (which had often included torture and near-starvation), a man named James Howlett arrived in New Orleans, armed with dog tags and looking for trouble. He soon found that this man 'Wolverine' had a similar agenda to his own, and he agreed to take him to the place he had escaped, so the Wolverine could get his revenge. It seemed to Remy that more mutants were effected by Stryker's plans than he could've imagined. He flew James there himself, then lingered to see how things would turn out. Eventually, he 'saved Wolverine's life', though he had probably only spared him some pain. The group of mutants who had escaped the cells were picked up by a man named Charles Xavier, with a hi-tech chopper. This man had contacted him more than once since their brief 'encounter'. Remy had duties in New Orleans, and returned after attempting to help Wolverine off the island. He hasn't seen the man since. After returning to Louisiana, he met (and nearly fell for) Ororo Munroe, who he at first believed to be a messenger for Xavier. Another ploy to get him to join the 'X-Men'. But he had been wrong. The weather witch was a thief, through and through, and had been looking to sew her wild oats, almost literally. They had a brief affair, but their connection was based more out of friendship and camaraderie. After she left, he was married and eventually forced to duel Julien. No longer welcome in New Orleans, he's been wandering ever since. Relationships: Gambit is close with Storm, who lived and worked beside him for a few years of his days in the guild. She reminds him how to move on and is a perfect example of how to rise above (sometimes literally). He has been at the school for a almost a year now, and several of the men have become 'beer buddies' to him, most of the time involving him slowly smoking a cigarette away while they play pool over beer until they can't shoot straight. Remy prefers darts. There are loads of jolies filles wandering the grounds of Xavier's, and he flirts with each in turn (married, involved, interested or not). They are rarely not interested. Digging deeper into a romantic relationship would involve him drudging up the past and mosty likely lying to a new love. He'd rather not lie.
